I understand that you hate meetings. You are forced into your morning huddle or weekly staff meeting or whatever it is. The meetings are stupid and boring and take too long and are irrelevant to you, and the people who lead them are jerks. I get it.
But what if, after the meeting, you were graded on whether or not you did your best to:
- Be happy
- Find meaning
- Build positive relationships
- Be fully engaged in the topics
How would you score? How could you be a better contributor?
Sometimes we believe in JFK in reverse. We don’t think about ‘what I can do for the meeting,’ but ‘what the meeting can do for me.’
Meetings are important and a fact of life. Change your attitude and get engaged!
